I'm glad you all are okay. A family in Utah last summer lost two of their children in a flash flood that looked a lot like what happened there.
I'll sure give it a try... I guess since I'm free there's nothing to lose, right? haha... I think taking pics of kids is a little bit like getting lightning to strike in the exact right place, haha.... let me know what kind of photography you're in to, what you like and dislike and I'll think up ideas.
